Super premium luxury car brand Bentley India has earmarked 30 units of its total global capacity to India. The company had earlier earmarked about 25 units to India. Bentley’s UK facility has a limited capacity of 10,000 units which it distributes across all countries. The company on Friday also launched its Bentley Azure and Bentley Continental GTC in India.

While Bentley Azure is priced at Rs 3.80 crore, Bentley Continental GTC carries a Rs 2.10-crore price tag. Bentley regional director (Middle East, Africa & India) Ian Gorusch said, “As of now, we can’t increase our allocation of 30 units because we have a limited capacity.

However, if we do plan to in the future, I think we can easily double the allocation to 60 units.” The company also plans to launch Brooklands in India which will be priced around Rs 4 crore. Bentley has already received one booking from India.

“The Indian super premium luxury car market has been growing fast. But you have to look at the tax structure for imported cars,” he said. In the past, Mr Gorusch has said that Bentely is keen on developing a used-car market in the country to cater to the growing demand for affordable luxury cars.

“Last year, we sold 28 cars as compared to 20 cars in 2005, which is very good growth for us,” he said. Owned by Volkswagen, Bentley has so far sold about 70 cars across its different models, including the Arnage, Continental and Flying Spur, all of which are in the ‘crore-plus’ price category.

Bentley India was established in 2004. The British super luxury car maker has no plans to expand capacity to maintain its exclusivity and hence allocates specific quotas for different markets.
