    Getz Prime 1.1L or 1.3L??

    Hi,

I am planning to buy a hatch back and my budget is max 5lacs. After exploring all possible options, I have finally settled myself for either Getz 1.1 or 1.3L . Please suggest which would be a better option for me. I am baffled as there is a huge difference of price between these two model. Both these models have their own pros and cons....one has peroformance issues on top gears while other is a bit expensive and lower mileage.

Your suggestions would be of great help for me in selecting the best option. Thanks in advance.

    Best Regards,
    Sachin.

Re: Getz Prime 1.1L or 1.3L??

As far as i feel buying a 1.1L Getz is just like owning a better looking Santro. Hyundai has just happened to have the same engine in the Getz as well in order to increase its fuel efficiency figures. Thats it. So the performance for this one shouldn't be much different from a Santro's.

What you could definitely look at in your budget should either be a Swift (petrol or diesel would be your choice - since both are great cars). But if you're a Hyundai fan you definitely need to have a look at the newly launched i10. Its really creating waves and is probably one of the strongest competitors in the small car category at the moment. It looks fabulous, has great interiors and is powered by a 1.1L 67bhp iRDE engine which should be equally fuel efficient. And it'll fit your budget perfectly. Do take a test drive and see if you like it.

But if its both great fuel efficiency figures as well as loads of power that you're looking for in your new car, then nothing beats the Swift DDiS (diesel). The best part is that it just doesn't feel like a diesel car at all. Trust me !!

To actually determine a winner just drive these cars around once and let me know which one really really stands apart from the crowd.

    Hi Sagar,

Thanks for your suggestions. Swift no doubt is far better option than Getz but I am completely inclined towards Getz just because of its sporty looks and space inside. Not yet seen i10. As you suggested I will definetly visit the show room for the test drive.

    Best Regards,
    Sachin.

    Thats great !!

Do post your test drive experience in the Enthusiast Corner >> User Road Tests forum and share it with us. I'm sure it could be of great help for a lot of other people who're considering buying the i10.

Another small question Sachin, are you considering a petrol hatchback or a diesel one?

My first choice is definitely deisel but I need to also look into my pocket. I was planning for Getz Deisel but since its too expensive for me, I finally convinced myself for the petro versions. Hey !! Any updates for getz 1.3 specially mileage??

    Best Regards,
    Sachin.

I doubt if in city conditions today you would be able to get more than 12kmpl. But i guess it all really depends on the way you drive. If you're a careful driver i'm sure you can stretch it a bit.

I have a couple of my friends driving the Swift diesel and they're all cracking an unbelievable mileage of 19 km/l in the city. The LDi would definitely not cost you more than 5 lakhs on road. This damn car has a 3 month waiting period in Delhi. Maruti is just not being able to keep up with its demand.

Yes I am aware of the facts regarding Swift Ldi....but somehow I don't like the looks and the space crunch. This might look a bit weird view to you but choice is choice.

    Sachin.

Absolutely not...at the end of the day its you who has to drive it everyday...you have to totally be in love with the car you buy...its just a great feeling...therz nothing wrong with you not liking the Swift...its a matter of personal choice after all...

I suggest that you go for a short spin in the Getz 1.3L and also have a look at the i10 for that matter. I'm sure that you'll be able to make up your mind about one of these after you really get to feel them from behind the steering wheel.

Just follow your heart my friend !!

I am from Delhi. My daily travel is around 20-25 kms. You can add up 250-300 kms journey in every 2-3 months.

Re: Getz Prime 1.1L or 1.3L??

So i think the Getz 1.3L should be just perfect for you. Its started looking so much better after the facelift from Hyundai. The engine's got great power and is really peppy. And since you monthly travel is around 1,000-1,200 kms the fuel efficiency wouldn't really be much to bother about. Another reason to go for it over the 1.1L is that it'll definitely be loaded with a lot more features and since most of the year around its summer here in Delhi and we drive around with the AC on, a bigger engine kinda takes the load pretty easily ensuring a smooth drive.

One thing i can assure you of in Hyundai cars is that they have the most amazing air conditioners and a great suspension system (you really dun feel those bumps on the road).

But when you go for a test drive have a look at the i10 also and gimme your feedback on it.

Do keep me posted on which one you buy finally..

    Great choice man !!

I guess then the best time to buy it should be December end. It'll be the year end and you could probably crack yourself a great deal.
