    Hello Sir/Madam,

I was thinking about to buy , Maruti WagonR LXI Duo model which is having both LPG and Petrol as its fuel, but somebody has told me dat, dere is always been problem wid buying LPG fuel cars, instead of LPG u should try for CNG.

Now i am bit of confused on it whether to buy it or look for other option. Can u please help me in clearing of my Confusion.

     Regards,

Well i haven't heard of any such problems with the WagonR Duo...i guess both LPG as well as CNG as an alternate fuel have their plus points as well as negative ones. I can shortlist a few for you.

    CNG:

You will notice a slight dip in power/acceleration i.e. about 10-15%

The CNG kit takes up a lot of space in your car trunk specially in a small car

A safer fuel than LPG since its liquefied gas (condenses when comes in contact with air)

You will notice a 50% increase in your Fuel efficiency..so the running cost is even lower than that of a LPG car

    LPG:

There is no dip in engine power/acceleration

The kit is smaller in size so it helps to give you storage space in the car trunk

Higher risk since LPG is a combustible/inflammable gas

Not much change in car fuel efficiency figures

From a couple of people that i know of who have installed a CNG kit in their WagonR's from outside (since it doesn't come factory fitted) they're simply all praises for it. The car adapts to CNG so well & gives an average of 21-22 km per kg of CNG which is just Rs. 19.20 per Kg. So effectively the running cost is just 80 paise per km which is simply great saving & value for money.

I dunno the exact figures for the WagonR Duo...see if you can find them out...that ways you'll be able to do a better comparison.

The other option you could look at is the Santro CNG which is coming factory fitted straight from Hyundai's plant.

I think people will lose interest in Lpg after the recent Mumbai accident.

I think Petrol or Diesel are any day safer than LPG.

    Hi,

I think buying a Maruti Suzuki WagonR Duo is a good choice. And, when you talk about LPG, let me tell you dear friend that all types of fuels can be very harmful if not taken good care of. It is your driving style, habits and care that makes your car engine liver longer and healthier. It has nothing to do with petrol, diesel, LPG, or CNG. But yes, in case of LPG, you need to take special care.

By any means WagonR Duo is a good choice. Friend, if you are really keen on buying a good car, then why not go for Maruti Suzuki Swift. Both diesel and petrol variants are doing extremely good in the Indian car industry.

You are right Tamanna, that LPG fuel can be harmful if not taken good care. No doubt LPG gives a best mileage to owners but, if you don't care of it-2 will damage to Engine. One more thing I have seen in mostly cases, that LPG Kit become heat fastly when you use it for long drive, or when it face sun light, which can be dangerous.
