German luxury car maker Mercedes-Benz launched a special edition of the C-Class in India this week. Priced at Rs 30.10 lakh (ex-showroom Bangalore), the new C-Class comes with a fresh sporty look, and has been designed to attract young customers. Only 60 units of the limited edition car will be available for sale.

The car comes with 17 inch 5-twin spoke alloy wheels, chrome surrounds and the Universal Media Interface (UMI) feature, which enables customers to connect mobile entertainment and communication devices like USB-based MP3 players, music mobiles, iPod or the iPhone to the car’s audio system. It is also equipped with redesigned air-intake sills and chrome surrounds on the fog lamps, and is available in three colours - Carneol Red, Obsidian Black and Calcite White.

Meanwhile, Mercedes-Benz has phased out its highest selling model in the country, the E-Class. The company’s Director – Sales and Marketing, Mr. Debasis Mitra, said that Mercedes phases out one model every seven years and a new car of the same segment will be introduced in India sometime soon. He also said that the company has invested Rs 250 crore at its Chakan plant, for expansion and upgradation purposes.

Mercedes-Benz India also launched a new version of its truck Actros, priced at Rs 65 lakh, this week. The truck will be a valuable partner for Indian infrastructure and minining operator, said Mercedes India Managing Director and CEO, Wilfried Aulbur.
