Maruti Suzuki last week increased the prices of all its models except the Eeco, the petrol Swift and the Gypsy. The hike ranges from 0.12 per cent in the Ritz VDi to to 1.9 per cent in the DZire LXi. The Maruti Estilo, launched in August 2009, is costlier by Rs 1,243 to Rs 2,486. The company said that while it had absorbed increased input costs in some of its models, part of the extra cost burden was now being passed on to customers. It also said that variants of the Swift and the Swift DZire had been upgraded to meet BS-IV norms, with their petrol versions now powered by 1.2 litre K-series engines.
Tata Motors and Mahindra & Mahindra too hiked product prices shortly after Maruti announced the hike. Prices of the Tata Indica and the Tata Indigo will now go up by Rs 5,000 to Rs 8,000. M&M hiked the price of the Scorpio by Rs 6,400 to Rs 9,300 and that of the Xylo by Rs 4,600. The Bolero too is now more expensive by Rs 4,800.
