The President of the Republic of Korea, His Excellency Lee Myung-Bak, and First Lady Kim Yoon-ok, visited Hyundai Motor India’s manufacturing facility in Chennai this week. The Korean President was in India for the country’s Republic Day celebrations, where he had been invited as Chief Guest. Interestingly, H.E. Lee Myung-bak has a background in business administration, and has worked with the Hyundai Group for almost three decades in the past. In 1988, he was made the Chairman of Hyundai Engineering and Construction at age 47. Mr HW Park, MD Hyundai Motor India Limited, said that the company was honoured to host the President and the First Lady, and that his visit had raised the morale of the management. Also present at the time of the visit was Hyundai-Kia Motor Group Chairman and CEO, Mr Chung Mong-Koo.

Meanwhile, Hyundai India has opened a new dealership in Mumbai, increasing its total number of dealerships in Maharashtra to 29. Mr Arvind Saxena, Director, Marketing & Sales, HMIL, said that the new dealership proved the company’s eagerness to strengthen its presence in Mumbai and would meet customers’ growing demand for Hyundai cars in the region.
