French auto company Renault may consider launching its first vehicle developed jointly with partner Nissan, the Renault Koleos, in India. While Renault worked on the initial design, Nissan pitched in with its engineering skills and 4X4 system to develop the Koleos, which has the comfort and luxury of a sedan and the off-roading capabilities of an SUV. Built at the Renault Samsung Motor Plant in Korea, the vehicle is expected to be priced competitively. Renault and Nissan worked together to develop the Koleos from scratch.

If launched in India, the vehicle is likely to come in both 4X4 and 4X2 versions, and will have manual and auto gearbox options. Significant among its engine options is the 2.0 dCi Euro-IV diesel engine with power outputs of 150 and 175 hp. The engine also features Piezo electric injectors, common-rail 1600-bar fuel injection and a water-cooled variable geometry turbo.
