Car sales continue to grow in June 2009

Passenger car sales in India continued to show a positive growth in June, 2009. Market leader Maruti Suzuki grew by 10.17 per cent, having sold 61,583 units in June 2009, as against 55,899 units in June 2008. Hyundai Motors’ sales went up from 21,881 units to 23,016 units in the same period. Tata Motors’ sales too increased marginally, from 17,017 units in June 2008 to 17,039 units in June 2009. However, the company’s cumulative growth for the first quarter of 2009, saw a decline of 10.28 per cent. Honda Siel Cars India sold 5,039 units in June 2009, growing by 6.49 per cent over sales in June 2008. Fiat India showed the most remarkable increase in sales, thanks to the success of the Linea. The company’s sales grew 349.8 per cent, from 550 units in June 2008 to 2,474 units in June 2009.
