Mercedes-Benz India this week launched the most expensive limousine in the country – the S-Guard – at an approximate price of Rs 6 crore. The S-Guard shares its platform with the S 600, and is powered by a 12-cylinder, 5.5 litre petrol engine. Mercedes-Benz India board member, Mr Suhas Kadlaskar, told mediapersons that the company wanted to “tap the growing market for armoured and protective vehicles in India” with the new car, which is targeted at celebrities, industry leaders and government officials.

The S-Guard comes with armoured shielding which can withstand ballistic and firearms attacks. It will be brought to India as a Completely Built Unit (CBU) from Germany. Kadlaskar said that the car’s exact price would be determined by factors like import duty and individual customers’ specific requirements.

The car is already being sold globally alone with other similar vehicles offered by Mercedes, including the E-Guard and the G-Guard.
