Ford India receives highest Voluntary Blood Donor honor from the Red Cross Society

Red Cross Society of Tamil Nadu felicitated Ford India with the prestigious rolling shield trophy for the highest contribution as a voluntary blood donor for the eighth consecutive year.

Chief Guest, Thiru. Ashok Vardhan Shetty, I.A.S., Principal Secretary to Government, Rural Development & Panchyatraj Department, Government of Tamil Nadu, handed over the coveted shield to Satyanarayana, General Manager, Engine Plant, Ford India on October 22, 2008, celebrated as National Voluntary Blood Donation Day.

Ford India has been conducting voluntary blood donation camps since the year 2000 and has emerged as the highest voluntary blood donor in the industrial segment for eight consecutive years. This year, Ford India conducted three blood camps at its Greenfield facility in Maraimalai Nagar and donated 660 units of blood to the Red Cross Society, enhancing its own previous records.

''We are proud to receive the rolling shield from the Red Cross Society for the eighth year in a row. At Ford India, we firmly believe that social and environmental responsibility is an integral part of our role as a corporate citizen and we are committed to the cause of blood donation. We will continue to lend our support to the Red Cross society in the future as well,'' said Satyanarayana, while receiving the trophy.

Ford India has a long standing practice of organizing voluntary blood donation camps two to three times a year since 2000, and has successfully conducted 26 voluntary blood donation camps and donated 3492 units of blood till date.
