The Mercedes-Benz Mobile Kids program was implemented in 5 schools of Delhi: Fr. Agnel School, DTEA School, Amity International Raisina Bengali School & Apeejay School. Introduced for students in Std IV in schools, Mercedes-Benz Mobile Kids attempts to imbibe the spirit of hazard anticipation, pro social behavior and conscious handling in children with respect to traffic rules and road safety. This unique initiative from DaimlerChrysler India was first implemented in 3 schools of Pune. Presently, over 1000 students have benefited from this program in Delhi.
Mercedes-Benz Mobile Kids has been a much-acclaimed program and a runaway success across Europe and Asia. Selected teachers from participating schools have been specially trained to implement this program. The program comprised of school contests, drawing & painting competitions, a Traffic-Police brief, quiz contests and other fun and learning activities. The highlight of the Mercedes-Benz Mobile Kids program for India is a special picture-book “Smarty’s World” created for classroom training.
On this occasion, the Managing Director & CEO of DaimlerChrysler India, Dr. Wilfried Aulbur said “The Mercedes-Benz brand globally stands for superior quality and safety. We understood that besides ensuring safety in our cars for our customers with excellence in technology, we should also imbibe a safety culture at the grassroots level which will ensure excellent traffic and road sense in future citizens of this country. Today with an increasing number of road accidents in the busy cities of India like Delhi, we feel a program like Mobile Kids makes even greater sense. The Vision of Accident-Free Driving has always been an area of great emphasis for us-globally and locally. Mercedes-Benz Mobile Kids program is an important step in that direction and we can empower the present & future road-users by such initiatives”.
SIAM is happy to partner with DaimlerChrysler for the program and further extend the range of our safety-awareness initiatives in India. Young children begin their independent interactions with road and traffic early: bringing bicycles to school, going unattended to playgrounds, etc. and are in need for road-safety awareness.” commented Mr. Dilip Chenoy, Director General of SIAM.
The Delhi phase of this program culminated today at the Traffic Pavilion in Pragati Maidan through an inter-school event wherein school students exchanged ideas and inputs. The winners of the quiz and painting competitions under the program were awarded certificates.
