Nissan contributes towards the school children who were flood affected during the 26th July'05 Mumbai floods
Mumbai, India  Thursday August 25, 2005 (DriveInside.com)

As a gesture of support towards the ongoing Flood Relief Programme in Mumbai, Nissan Motor India Private Limited contributed essential school items to about 710 affected children of the Kalina Municipal School at the school premises on August 23, 2005.

The children were truly a bundle of joy as their faces lighted up in excitement while receiving their items from the Nissan officials. The contributions included amongst others school uniforms, school bags, bed sheets, doormats and stationery. The Kalina municipal school was specifically chosen as this area was the most affected amongst the flood-hit areas of Mumbai along with other places such as Santa Cruz and Kurla.

With a majority of the children hailing from the slums of Shastri Nagar and Kalina Kunchi Korewa Nagar that have reported losses to property close to the tune of Rs 10 lakhs, children's books, uniforms, bed sheets and stationery had all been washed away by the floods. Considering this, the contribution came as a boon to hundreds of children whose families had almost lost all their belongings in the floods.
