Mahindra & Mahindra, a part of the US $6 billion Mahindra Group, consolidated its leadership position in the automotive segment substantially in March 2008. The company announced that the Bolero, India’s No. 1 SUV gained the distinction of being the only vehicle in the SUV/UV/MPV category to cross 50,000 units in a year.

The company announced that it Cumulative sales including exports grew an approximate 30% in March ’08 with total sales of 2,31,355 vehicles as against 1,78,201 vehicles for the corresponding period last year. Total sales including exports in March ’08 numbered 24,682 as against 20,595 in the corresponding month last year.

Passenger Cars
Mahindra Renault sold 3068 units of India’s first wide body car, Logan, in March 2008.

Domestic sales
M&M clocked total vehicles sales of 23,128 units in the domestic market as against 19,841 in the corresponding month last fiscal, a 16.6% increase.

Exports
The company’s automotive sector clocked sales of 1554 vehicles in March as against 754 units in the corresponding period last fiscal, an increase of over 100%.
