The German carmaker Audi came out of 2011 with the highest growth among the luxury car manufacturers in India amid the slowdown of Indian automobile industry. For 2012, the company has set a target of selling 7,500 units of cars by the year end. Selling 5,400 units in 2011, it is optimistic about further increasing its sales in 2012, says Mr. Michael Perschke, Head, Audi India.
In November 2011, the Audi India
had achieved its annual sales target which it had already revised in mid 2011 from 4,500 to 5,000 units. Commenting on the Indian car market, Mr. Perschke said that there is huge potential in the market and that the company intends to expand its dealer network in the country as well as launch new variants and models in India. He is of the opinion that Indian car market has immense potential and is on the path of becoming a hub for global luxury brands by 2017.
