Company Profile:

Audi India

The Audi emblem of the four rings denotes one of Germany's oldest automobile manufacturers. It symbolizes the merger in 1932 of four previously independent motor vehicle manufacturers: Audi, DKW, Horch and Wanderer. These companies are the foundation stones on which the present-day AUDI AG is built. Audi has been selling luxury cars in India since 2004, however Audi India was established in March 2007 as a division of the Volkswagen Group Sales India. From 2008 to 2011, Audi was the fastest growing luxury vehicle manufacturer in terms of annual sales.

Upcoming Audi Cars

Audi A3 Image

Audi A3

Expected Date: May - 2013 Expected Price: Rs. 22,00,000

Audi India has recorded tremendous sales increases over this year and they are not planning on slowing down. In order to catch up with Mercedes and BMW, Audi India will now add more products to their line-up including cheaper and smaller ones such as the A3. The A3 will be the company’s entry-level sedan and will cost roughly Rs 22 lakh. The overall trend in India seems to be going the diesel way, so it is no surprise that the A3 will sport a 2-litre 4 cylinder TDI engine but there will also be 1.8 litre and 2.0 litre petrol engines available. It is also likely to be mated with a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed DSG auto transmission. The car will come standard with Audi safety technology and features.

Audi S6 Image

Audi S6

Expected Date: August - 2013 Expected Price: Rs. 60,00,000

Another german beauty to look out for is the Audi S6 and it is soon to be launched in India. It has got an athletic character, quiet understatement and is richly appointed. Both, the S6 and S6 Avant, models are sports cars for everyday use, offering uncompromising practicality. Their new engine, a four-liter, twin-turbo V8, combines ample power with low fuel consumption in keeping with the times. The S6 and S6 Avant use the 420bhp version of the new 4.0 litre TFSI engine. The twin-turbo V8 provides a constant 550 Nm of torque and allows the car to accelerate in the S6 from 0 to 100 kmph in 4.8 seconds and the S6 Avant in 4.9 seconds. The engine power flows through a fast-shifting, 7-speed S tronic transmission. The car also features xenon plus headlights with an all-weather light, LED rear lights, an electromechanical parking brake and the driver information system with color display. The MMI radio plus includes a Bluetooth interface, and the Audi sound system has ten speakers. You can expect an Indian launch sometime in 2012.

Audi A5 Image

Audi A5

Expected Date: October - 2013 Expected Price: Rs. 35,00,000

The next Audi Sportback coupe after the RS5 to come to India will most probably be the Audi A5 Coupe. In the European market each of the four TDI diesel and three TFSI gasoline units include forced induction and direct fuel injection. The most impressive engine variant is the new 1.8 TFSI, which features a number of groundbreaking innovations and we will most likely be seeing this variant come to Indian shores. For the 1.8 petrol engine the fuel consumption has been reduced by 11 percent on average. On all other engine variants the start-stop system and the recuperation system comes standard. The closest competitors of the A5 will probably be the BMW 5 Series and the Nissan 370Z. We might expect to see the car on display at the 2014 Auto Expo in Delhi. There are essentially three different models of the A5 – the Sportback, Coupe and Cabriolet – but in India we will most probably get the Sportback or the Coupe.

Audi Q1 Image

Audi Q1

Expected Date: November - 2013 Expected Price: Rs. 24,00,000

Joining the Audi Q army of SUVs will be the compact Q1. Because of the growing demand for small compact SUVs in the country, Audi will be cashing in with this new product. The Q1 is a compact crossover based on the A1 city car. The car will be powered by a 1.4 TFSI engine that could generate around 120bhp, and other variants could have more power figures. It is still undecided as to which engine variant will come to India, as there could also very well be a diesel unit for the Q1 in India. The car will be priced somewhere above Rs 24 lakh and jut as the Q3 was a hit at the 2012 Delhi Auto Expo, the Q1 will probably be the show stopper for the 2014 Delhi Auto Expo.
