Tata New Safari

Expected Date: August - 2012 Expected Price: Rs. 11,00,000

The new Tata Safari – called the Merlin – has already been seen by many and the pics are out. If you look at the car you can easily notice that the spare wheel on the tail gate has disappeared and a new chrome strip runs on the tail gate with the newly designed tail lamps. Similar to the Aria, the Safari Merlin flaunts twin exhausts and a curvy exterior design complete with a spoiler. Although much hasn’t really changed as you can still see hints of the old design in the new one. The Merlin continues to use the same 2.2-liter DICOR engine paired to an improved manual transmission. The car will be priced at around Rs 10 lakh and will be available in 2012.

Tata Manza CS

Expected Date: October - 2012 Expected Price: Rs. 5,00,000

Tata has plans to introduce a compact version of the Manza called the CS. The sedan will have a longer wheelbase than the Vista hence offering more room and will also have similar features found in the larger Manza variants. This will expand the company’s portfolio allowing them to grab customers from lower segments. The Manza CS is likely to be powered by the same 1.4-litre SAFIRE and 1.3-litre Quadrajet engines found in the Manza and will be priced at Rs 6 lakh. Expect a launch date in early 2012.

Tata Indicruz

Expected Date: November - 2012 Expected Price: Rs. 11,00,000

Because Tata has taken on some knowledge partners and acquired strong companies such as Jaguar Land Rover, their own manufacturing and engineering prowess has been drastically improved and has allowed them to shell out some better products for the Indian market. One such product heading our way will be the Indicruz. Based on the Xover concept car and using the existing Safari platform, the Indicruz is likely to be a stretched van design MPV that will have features such as traction control, ABS, climate control, navigation system and personalized airbags for the driver and passengers. A power unit has not been disclosed but the car will likely house the 2.2 litre Dicor engine and this 7-seater will compete directly with the Toyota Innova.
