Renault S.A. is a French automaker that has been producing automobiles since 1899. The company itself was founded in that same year by Louis Renault and his brothers. Like most car makers at the time, Renault made itself known by successfully competing in motor sports. The Renault brothers achieved popularity by winning the first city to city race that was held in Switzerland. This helped the company to expand rapidly.
