Toyota Kirloskar launches special edition version of Innova

Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM) has introduced a special edition version of its popular MPV, the Toyota Innova, to commemorate 5 years of the vehicle's launch in India. The company will release only 700 units of the special edition model, priced at Rs 8.87 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). TKM Deputy Managing Director, Mr Sandeep Singh, said that since its launch in 2005, the Innova had been the market leader in the MPV segment and had sold a total of 2.26 lakh units.

Lamborghini launches limited edition Murcielago LP 670-4 SuperVeloce

Luxury sports-car manufacturer, Lamborghini, introduced a limited edition version of the Murcielago LP 670-4 SuperVeloce in India this week. Priced at Rs 3.6 crore (ex-showroom, Delhi), the car comes with a 6.5 litre V12 petrol engine and can go from 0 to 100 km/hr in 3.2 seconds. Exclusive Motors Managing Director, Mr Satya Bagla, said that with its 'exceptional high-speed stability', the car was the ultimate performer for advanced sports car drivers.

Tata Motors starts commercial production of Nano at Sanand plant

Tata Motors this week began the commercial production of its small car, Tata Nano, at its new manufacturing facility in Sanand, Gujarat. The inauguration ceremony was attended by several Tata Motors suppliers, apart from the company's Chairman, Mr Ratan Tata and Gujarat CM, Mr Narendra Modi. Mr Tata said that the plant would better equip the company to meet the strong demand for the Nano. He also said that Tata Motors would surprise the Chief Minister with more investments in Gujarat in the coming years.

Volkswagen organizes preview of upcoming sedan Vento for Indian journalists

European auto major, Volkswagen, recently unveiled its upcoming mid-size sedan, the Vento, at its production facility in Wolfsburg, Germany. The car was previewed by a select group of journalists from India. According to media reports, the Vento, built on the VW Polo's platform, looks a lot like the Polo itself, with a longer wheelbase, wider windows and more leg-space. The car has been built specifically for the Indian market, and has a shriller horn and a slightly altered braking system built according to Indian conditions.

M&M posts increase in Logan sales after end of JV with Renault

Mahindra & Mahindra has witnessed a significant increase in the sales of its entry-level sedan, the Logan, after the end of its joint venture with French automaker Renault. A little over a month back, M&M bought Renault's 49 percent stake in the JV, and slashed the Logan's price shortly thereafter. The car's sales stood at 450 units in May 2010, up from 303 units in April 2010. The company aims to increase the monthly sales of the car to 900-1,000 units by the end of 2010.

Ashok Leyland-Nissan JV to launch 2 new commercial vehicles in 2011

Ashok Leyland (ALL) and Nissan will jointly launch a new high-tonnage (5-7.5 GVW) commercial vehicle by the middle of 2011, and another in the second half of the same year. The companies will make use of their separate production facilities in India to manufacture the new products. While ALL will produce the JV's first vehicle at its Hosur plant, Nissan will use its Oragadam facility to manufacture the second product, which will be launched by the end of 2011.
