General Motors India registers 10,062 units in sales in October 2011

New Delhi | Nov 01, 2011

General Motors India sold 10,062 units in October 2011 on the back of the overwhelming response received by Chevrolet Beat Diesel, India’s most fuel efficient car. Chevrolet Beat has been one of the top performers for GM India in October registering record sales of 5328 units.

Commenting on the performance, Mr. P. Balendran, Vice President, GM India said, “We have been able to sustain the growth primarily due to the good sales of Chevrolet Beat Diesel which continues to be in good demand. Other carlines like Cruze and Tavera have also generated volumes on the expected lines. We are planning to ramp up production of Beat Diesel to meet the growing demand for the product in the coming months. We remain committed to fully leveraging our resources to offer customers across the country best-in-class products and services that meet their unique needs. The market, however, continues to remain sluggish due to unprecedented hikes in interest rates, fuel prices, commodity prices, growing inflation and negative market sentiments. These factors are putting lot of pressure on the automobile market, Mr. Balendran added.

Chevrolet is celebrating its centennial as a global automotive brand this year and is completing 100 years on Thursday. It is now one of the fastest growing automotive nameplates in India and provides consumers with fuel-efficient, safe and reliable vehicles that deliver high quality, expressive design, spirited performance and value. With a wide array of products and services, Chevrolet has brought unmatched product quality and unparalleled performance to the customers. Continuing its journey, Chevrolet plans to launch several new products and services for the global audience, relevant to the respective markets and customer preferences.
