The X6 is the most expensive vehicle in the X Series lineup from BMW India. It is a cross over vehicle instead of an SUV because it is a sportier version of the traditional X Series vehicles. The X6 was first introduced in 2008 to the global market and it was marketed as a Sports Activity Coupe because of its sporty design traits with a coupe. In India the X6 is offered with a diesel engine and a petrol engine, and the M version of the car is yet to be released in India. Its closest rival is the Porsche Cayenne S.
The X6 is a very unique looking car as it looks like a cross between a proper SUV and a coupe, hence it is called a crossover. The front section follows typical BMW design with the front bumper and kidney grille, but then the rear section scoops downward toward the C pillars, giving it a more curvy and aerodynamic look when compared to the other X Series vehicles. The X6 is slightly longer and wider than the X5, but it also sits lower to the ground, hence giving it a very strong on-road presence.
