The Force One is a full size SUV manufactured by Pune based company Force Motors. The Force One was launched in 2012 and it competes with the Ford Endeavour, Skoda Yeti and Ssanyong Rexton. The Force One is only available with a diesel engine.
Design & Styling
The Force One design is is quite outdated compared to its competitors. The lines are straight and the overall quality is not very good. But it does have a good on-road presence as the car still looks muscular. There are some big wheel arches, and then the front section gets a nice sized front grille, but the LED headlights look out of proportion, as do the tail lamps. The car also gets roof rails and some nice alloy wheels. There is also a aluminium side step for easy access into the cabin. The car is quite long at almost 5 metres and it is also tall at 1.8 metres, but it does have a very low ground clearance.

Interiors
The interiors of the Force One are rather nice and the use of good quality components is good but the final touches could have been improved. It is not a luxurious setting but it is comfortable and there is ample leg room and head room in the cabin. The dashboard seems poor in quality and the ergonomics are not the best. There is also lots of storage compartments and a huge boot.
Engine & Transmission
The highest variants are powered by the 2.2 litre Common rail direct injection diesel engine made under license from Daimler AG, Germany. It develops a peak output of 137bhp and a class leading torque of 321Nm. This engine is mated to a 5 speed synchromesh gear box with cable shift is also made under license from Daimler AG. The lowest variant comes with a Mercedes derived, 2.6 litre turbo charged direct injection diesel engine that develops 80bhp and 230Nm torque, and it is also mated to a 5-speed transmission.
Performance and Handling
The Force One drives well mainly thanks to its Mercedes built engine and transmission. On the road it has a good ride quality and the 2.2 litre engine is the best with the most amount of power. In the city the driving dynamics work well, but the steering is not direct and the suspension is a little too soft. But on the highway the car drives very well and can reach a top speed of 160kmph very easily. The Force One also gets 4WD electric shift so it is capable of going off-road, and it even drives well off the tarmac. The suspension really works wonders here thanks to the independent wishbone suspension Force One is actually quite impressive off-road but it needs a better ground clearance. Overall it is not a bad car to drive weather you are on-road or off-road. The2.6 litre engine is severely underpowered.
Fuel Efficiency
The 2.2 litre diesel engine provides around 14kmpl, while the 2.6 litre engine provides around 15kmpl.
Features
The Force One gets features such as power steering, power windows, air-conditioning, leather seats, cruise control, a multi-information display with an in-built audios system.
Safety
Safety features include ABS with EBD, remote key access, reverse parking sensor, and central locking.
Quality & Reliability
The overall quality of the car is not the best as the use of poor components is prevalent and the finishing touches are not good. Nonetheless, despite the lack of high quality components the car is built very well and it uses a Mercedes Benz engine and transmission setup. The car is highly reliable but it might be a problem to source spare parts and the mechanical ones might be costly.
Value for Money
The overall value for money is not very good as the car is not visually appealing and it doesn’t have the best performance or the best features.
Verdict
You might want to check out the other SUVs in this segment that are more modern and built better to have better performance and better features.
