The Eeco is a refreshed version of the Versa. It features a more modern twist to its exterior design and better comfort levels in the interiors. The car was first showcased at the 2010 Delhi Auto Expo and was received well by the media. The Eeco comes in a 5-seater as well as a 7-seater. The Eeco was designed specifically for low and middle-income and young families to provide them a comfortable and spacious vehicle, and it has served its purpose quite well. There are many different variants on offer including a CNG variant.
Design & Styling
The overall all exterior design of the car is very straight forward and it is not the most stylish looking vehicle, however it is a step above the Versa, which it replaces. Its less than 4 metres in length and it has a height of 1800mm. The front end has been slightly revised so the car looks less than like a box and more contemporary , but the rest of the car still maintains is original shape with straight lines. The headlights are now rectangular and more modern as are the taillights.

Interiors
Both the 5-seater and the 7-seater offer plenty of interior space and the comfort levels and quality of the seats are greater than the Omni. The dashboard has also got a revised look, but it is still very bland and simple. In terms of leg room and headroom there is much more in the 5-seater because the seating arrangement is better. There is also less boot space in the 7-Seater. For the driver, the seating is not the best as a height adjustment could have made it a more comfortable car.
Engine & Transmission
The Eeco uses the 1.2 litre 73bhp 4-cylinder petrol engine. It is a decent performer, but definitely not the best. However, it performs well under stress. The engine is mated to a rough but useable 5-speed manual transmission.
Performance and Handling
The Eeco is not the best performer, but it does its job very well. Acceleration is not the best, but it is linear and smooth. The overall ride quality is also decent as the suspension setup is good. The steering response is not the best and it does not have power steering, which makes it hard to handle. The gear changes are good and they use diagonal shift assist for better gear movements. This helps the driver since steering the car is already tough.
Fuel Efficiency
The Fuel efficiency of the car depends on the variant you drive. The 5 seater standard ad AC can give you maybe 11kmpl, while the 7 Seater Standard could give you around 10kmpl. Then there is also the Green range that uses iGPI technology and provides a much higher fuel economy.
Features
There are almost no interesting features on the Eeco, however there is air-conditioning. An integrated music player with CD player and radio is optional.
Safety
The Eeco has no safety features.
Quality & Reliability
The Car uses cheap materials, but it is highly reliable. The quality of seats has been improved and the ride quality is very good in all conditions. The Engine is of decent build quality but the dashboard and ergonomics need some serious attention. Once again Maruti cars don’t require high servicing costs and availability of parts is never a problem.
Value for Money
The Eeco is aimed at a particular population demographic and since it comes at such a low cost and has no other competitors in its segment it is very good value for money.
Verdict
The car offers plenty of space with the bare necessities and a decent performing engine. On the other hand it has bad quality materials but it still has no competitor within its price range or its segment. Its only competitor could be a hatch back but these are two different cars. If you need lots of space then this is your car, if you went better performance then go for a hatch.

I have used Maruti Omni Van and whatever updating I visualized for the Van most of them are in Eeco.
a) Power full engine 800cc to 1200cc
b) AC ( Thought not available in the 7 seater version but the heater system is there)
c) Bigger wheel size
d) Front facing seating arrangement
e) Height
g) 5 speed Transmission
h) Fuel efficiency
i) Bonnet which adds some aerodynamics to the box shape with the body graphics.
One major short fall though is the lake of good luggage space.
The space in the bonnet could have been used for the extra wheel like Tata Nano and lots more space can be created behind the back seat.
Other wise really a purposeful vehicle.
Some changes need in this car.
1) There is NO Power Stearing In this car.
2) Wheel Size is small
3) exterior Look is not so much attractive.
4) interior is ok.
5) company can plan for diesel variant in eeco 1.3litre engine
