The M Class was first launched in 1997 and it was met with huge sales success. It is essentially a mid-sized SUV and it competes against other luxury SUVs such as the Land Rover FreeLander, Audi Q5 and BMW X3. There are currently just 2 diesel engine variants available in India.
The M CLass is a large SUV but it is just under 5 metres in length, making it smaller than the GL Class. Once again Mercedes leans more towards elegant design than muscle. Although the M Class features a sharper design when compared to the GL, it looks more like a traditional SUV. The front section uses the same traditional but very large Mercedes front grille and it also has a very nice looking front bumper. Then it has got massive tyres that come with shiny alloys. The overall body of the car is big but the mid-section and rear-end are not inspiring once again. Overall the car looks good but not very impressive.
