The history of Sunny dates back to the 60s when the Japanese carmaker launched it as a subcompact car under the Datsun brand. The car went through various designs and name changes but was brought to India in 2012 as the Nissan Sunny. It is the first indigenously made car from Nissan in the country and it falls in the mid-level sedan segment. It competes primarily with the Honda City, Chevrolet Sail, Maruti Suzuki Dzire, Fiat Linea and the Tata Indica Manza. There are both petrol and diesel units available in various trim levels.
The Sunny is a pretty big car for an mid-level sedan in India. It is about 4.5 metres in length and has a long wheelbase of 2600mm. The overall design of the car is quite good that it could almost pass off as an entry level premium sedan. The front hood is nice and long and the headlights swoop back. The front bumpers are nicely setup and the grille I also nice and big with a little bit of chrome. The wheels are also good in size and have alloys and the arches are not over exaggerated and look nice and smooth. The rear boot is very small and it does seem to throw-off the overall proportions of the car, but nonetheless it still has a good stance on the road and looks nice.
