The Renault Kwid is the French manufacturers answer to the highly viable entry-level hatchback segment in India. The Kwid makes a very bold statement and is placed in the most competitive segment. However it gets some very nice features a strong muscular design that makes it stand out from the other like the Maruti Alto, which is the best seller.
Design & Styling
The Kwid is definitely one of the best looking entry-level hatchbacks. Its design strategy symbolizes dynamic performance, robust strength and a taste for adventure. Its SUV-inspired stance off¬ers a high driving position and greater visibility, making it ideal for zipping around in urban traffic or roaring down the open highway. The sculpted sides provide a fluid, dynamic touch with the rectangular forms of the black wheel arches, further accentuating the Renault KWID’s SUV breeding. The steeply-raked, forward-positioned windscreen lends a sense of movement and fluidity to the car’s high waistline. The lower part of the rear bumper comes with a black trim, another SUV cue. While the integrated roof spoiler adds to the car’s dynamic stance.

Interiors
The interiors re also quite nice. There is a good amount of head room and the front passengers get plenty of space. In the rear though there is little leg room, but still plenty of head room and the boot is also decent in size. The dashboard though is one of the best we have seen in this segment and its modern and fresh and of high quality.
Engine & Transmission
The Renault KWID is powered by a brand new, state-of-the-art compact engine with advanced technology for accurate air to fuel ratio monitoring. The engine is a 799cc petrol unit which can deliver 59bhp. It’s a fairly well refined engine and it does the job well.
Performance and Handling
The Kwid is quite impressive on the road. The overall engine refinement and performance is quite good. The car has a smooth and linear pickup but it doesn’t excite at all. The ride quality is also very good and you will feel comfortable on the highway or on city streets. Driving on inclines might be challenging though. The handling of the Kwid is quite good and the steering is weighted nicely. The power steering system works quite well and the suspension is very soft and great in urban conditions. For an entry-level hatch we do think that the Kwid is a fantastic performer.
Fuel Efficiency
The Kwid is very fuel efficient and offers an impressive 24kmpl.
Features
The Renault Kwid also stands out above the competition in its segment because it comes with a state-of-the-art, user-friendly Media NAV multimedia and navigation system, which features a first-in-class 7-inch touchscreen display, complemented by two speakers in the front.
Safety
The Renault Kwid comes with little to no safety features, but it does have optional driver side airbag.
Quality & Reliability
For an entry-level hatch the quality is quite good, and better than the rest of the competition. Overall the Kwid is highly reliable and a well-built car.
Value for Money
The Kwid offers the best value for money in its segment.
Verdict
This is the car, which we highly recommend if you are looking to buy an affordable and fun vehicle that also makes a huge style statement.
