The Renaukt Pulse is the first hatchback to be launched in India by the French carmaker. Nissan and Renault are in partnership and the Nissan Micra and the Renault Pulse share the exact same platform. The Pulse was first launched in 2011. The Pulse competes against other mid-level hatches such as the Swift, i10, Fiat Punto, Toyota Etios Liva and Tata Indica D90. It comes with a diesel engine and a petrol engine.
Design & Styling
The Pulse gets a chrome fitted front grille, strong looking bumpers and a sharp rear . The Pulse follows a very unconventional hatch design and is tall and has got lots of curves. The front headlights stick up from the hood and the rear end slopes downwards and its overall length is well under 4 metres. It has also got decent size tyres that now come with alloys. It is a stylish and unique overall design that is also very practical.

Interiors
The interiors of the Pulse are also done up in a very unique way. The instrument cluster is nice and now there are better materials on the front console, which still has the button configuration designed in a circle. There is lots of room for all passengers with plenty of headroom and legroom.
Engine & Transmission
The Pulse comes with a 1.2 litre petrol engine and a 1.5 litre diesel engine. The diesel engine is very well refined and has got good power figures of 84bhp and 160Nm of torque. It is also mated to a 5-speed manual transmission.
Performance and Handling
The diesel Pulse is a great all round performer. The ride quality is very good and the car can be controlled very easily around tight bends and when in traffic filled streets. The power from the engine is adequate for the city as well as the highway and the suspension setup is simply fantastic. The steering response is spot on and it follows the driver’s commands and gives good feedback as well. There is however a slight power lag but not too much.
Fuel Efficiency
The Pulse is a very fuel efficient car and the diesel provides a fuel economy of 18kmpl, while the petrol unit gives around 13kmpl.
Features
The Pulse comes with some great features. There is of course power steering, power windows and air conditioning, but there is now also a well equipped audio system with steering mounted controls. There is also a very nice driver information system that tells the driver various details such as fuel consumption and then it also comes with a push start button.
Safety
Safety features include central locking, keyless entry, front airbags, ABS with EBD and Brake Assist.
Quality & Reliability
The Pulse is made up of decent quality materials. The panels on the doors and dashboard are nice and the fit and finishing touches are not bad. It is also a very reliable car and has a strong frame that can handle rough conditions. The panels on the exterior have also been improved and the engine is extremely well refined. Running costs are low and there are now plenty of service centres opening around the country.
Value for Money
The Pulse has got decent value for its cost price. The price has gone up because of the added features but it is still reasonably priced. More importantly it is a very well engineered car so you do get your money’s worth.
Verdict
The Pulse is a practical solution for the city and yet it also serves well on the highway. It is very fuel efficient and comfortable inside, however it is not the most fun to drive and you may feel that it is underpowered, especially with the auto transmission. Consider your options and your budget before deciding to purchase one.

Renault pulse test drive I took before two weeks and I liked it a lot. If you see how they have made the interiors of the car, compare it with the old pulse, you will see so much difference. The new pulse has very premium feel to it and there is no way you will disregard this car in any aspect. I observed that they have given up down adjustment for the driver seat and the seats are very comfortable. The rear seats fit three medium build people easily and the boot space is really big for a car this size. Safety wise everything is in place be it ABS, EBD, airbags, de fogger and powerful headlights. Many options for accessories have also been provided. I really liked the feel of the car and the pickup was marvelous after 2nd gear, very smooth transition and no turbo lag of any kind. Smart buy.
The reason I bought the pulse was the comfort it was offering. There is so much storage space and the cabin is really spacious. this time around the facelift has been offered with suave interiors and there is nothing to complain about in this car. so much better when you get features like on board trip meter, tilt adjust steering, driver seat adjustment, music system, Bluetooth and steering mounted control, power windows, push button engine start, smart door lock and unlock to name a few.more so the car looks so macho on the road and comes with a powerful and fuel efficient engine. Amazing car from Renault.

Perfect way to start off your journey with cars, this is an ideal first car and can be your car for a long time since it is low maintenance and sturdy.
Pulse has been my ride since past few months and I have never felt happier. I bought it just after its launch and it has everything one could want in a car in this price range.it has very luxurious interiors and the features like automatic orvms, climate control, two toned interiors and integrated music system make it premium hatchback.i haven’t driven it much yet but until now the experience has been great.i drive to and fro daily through traffic and even for a diesel car it does not have lags and the suspension isjust awesome.happy to have bought this car,it is a good deal.
Pulse has been in the family since a while now and we have had so much fun driving to places. My family of 5 is why I wanted to get a car in the first place. My frequent trips to my shops throughout the day prompted me to buy a car and I wanted a car which would give me a good mileage, look good and be spacious in case I had to take something home. My shop is 9 km from home and so coming going needs lots of time and fuel. But the car is so good that I never feel the brunt of the time or the fuel. The engine is very fuel efficient. I use it single handed so my pulse is as good as new even after 4 months.
I have been driving the pulse since two years now and it has been a very good companion. The car has pretty good features in the price range but there are areas of improvement. The top variant in diesel is good but could use airbags for passenger seat as well. The engine is fuel efficient, Renault’s best dCi K9K engine. It has a good pick and the cabin remains silent even on bad patches of road. For a diesel car, it is pretty silent. Maintenance wise, it is ok and does not give a headache. It is sturdy and as a family car used for daily commute, it is a great choice. The electronic orvms, ABS, EBD and brake assist it is a decent car with enough to offer. I have driven over 22000 km now and it has been a good companion in these two years. Hoping Renault will make it a better car with more features so people will buy it more.
I have been using pulse since 3 years now, I have crossed the 20000 km mark and running without many a problems. The service centre was ok but they should improve on their services. Its great to have this spacious car and business trips are quite comfortably managed because of the ease it provides. The suspension is good but they should work more on the interiors. I took it mostly for getting to nearby places since sedans cannot be comfortably for small town journeys. It is a decent car and in this price range, it offers enough to keep you happy. Maintenance wise it is affordable and it gives a good mileage on highways, no turbo lag or clutch issues even after extensive use. Driving and handling is smooth and regular maintenance is necessary once you cross the 20k mark. Small bits here and there but no serious problems with it, good car.
Good car, i would advice people to buy the car, i like the front end of the car, which resembles to Porsche, ago for it i would say, think different, try something new and trendy, the metallic red colour is the best
Just had purchased the RXZ model and fully satisfied its performance and engine within the city limit. Also N.H Road and handling is very fun and happily to say very good car in the small segment and seating arrangement also good.
I am driving from last 5 month and I am very happy with my Renault Pulse its average, comfort and performance. I recommend this car to my friends, who want to buy new car in this class. Go and take test drive my friends if you planing new car.
