The Skoda Octavia has been in India for over a decade and it has always been a popular car as an entry level luxury sedan. The first generation Octavia did very well in India and set the footing for Skoda in India. Now in 2014 the third generation and the all new Octavia looks better than ever and is more refined than ever. The Octavia will compete against the Chevrolet Cruze and Volkswagen Passat. The Octavia also comes with both.
Design & Styling
The new Octavia is overall a good looking car, and the design has been improved over the years, and now in the current third generation the exterior body gets a complete makeover, with sharper lines and an overall stance that looks more dynamic. The front end comes with a brand new front grille with the new Skoda logo, and there are also LED lights. The proportions of the car are also very good and it is a strong looking mid-size sedan, with nice alloys as well.

Interiors
The interiors of the new Octavia have been significantly improved and there is also much more space. The overall quality of the components in the cabin is also very good, and the ergonomics are spot on. There is plenty of space for all occupants, and even the rear seat passengers will be very comfortable, not to mention the seats are very nice as well. The Dashboard is also very nice and has been tidied up to look like everything fits into place just perfectly to allow for a smooth driving experience.
Engine & Transmission
The Octavia comes with a 1.4 TSI engine with 138bhp, and it also comes with 1.8 TSI with 178bhp. The diesel variant is only available with a 2.0 litre TDI with 140bhp and ti comes in both automatic and manual variants. All of the engines are turbocharged so you get greater power and greater economy.
Performance and Handling
We drove the 2.0 litre diesel unit and it is a very well built diesel engine that pulls the car forward with such ease, thanks to the enormous torque is generates. The overall ride quality of the car is also really good and the suspension provides the perfect ride for just about any city street and on the highway it’s even better. The diesel engine really is the better performing engine out of the lot, and you get good engine response with hardly any turbo lag and the auto transmission also works really well, but the petrol 1.8 TSI engine gives you the most refined driving experience because the car is lighter and the throttle response is better, hence making the overall driving experience really good.
Fuel Efficiency
With the diesel engine we got an estimated 13kmpl, while with the 1.8 TSI engine we got an average of 10kmpl.
Features
The Octavia comes with some good features such as power steering, power windows, automatic climate control, an electric sunroof, in-built Skoda audio player with 5.8 LCD touchscreen and steering mounted controls. Then there is also leather seats, cruise control and central information display.
Safety
Safety features include ABS with EBD, traction control, stability control, parktronic sensors and reverse camera, and multiple airbags.
Quality & Reliability
The overall quality of the Skoda Octavia has been improved by leaps and bounds. The exterior uses the best materials and the cabin has been refreshed to look very nice and attractive. The build quality of the car is really good and there is new technology involved as well. The only problem might be the after sales service of Skoda, which is not considered to be the best.
Value for Money
The car is priced just right and you get a very good machine for the price you pay for it.
Verdict
The Octavia has something for everybody. It can be a delight to drive and it is also very luxurious to ride around in as a passenger. The car looks good and performs well, so it carries very good value, and within this segment this is a very good option. The diesel engine is the better option since it comes with an automatic transmission as well.

Hello, Have been driving a the Skoda Ocatavis 1.9 TDi for the last year or so. Well to begin with the car is fantastically built. it sticks to the ground at high speeds, never do you once feel it is becoming unstable. The front seats are very very comfortable which is good for the driver especially on long drives. Great leg room.(no electronic seats in this variant) The engine is quite powerful, touches 140 in no time. those of us who are not used to driving such powerful vehicles have to make sure you do not over speed on long winding roads, the built is so good that it gives you no idea of speed. Power steering is also perfectly set, not too light. The tires are also quite good. suit the cars needs. The doors open wide, easy entry and exit. Let me warn you, the Air-conditioning is amazingly powerful, have set to set it on medium even in the hot afternoon. Speed setter for wipers in the intermediate mode, works for me, also the small display in the dashboard, tells you about the avg. speed, time since car started, etc etc. good fun for the curious minds. Yes it does give the 17-19 kmpl on the highways. also 13-15 in the city, if driven well. unreal fuel economy. The whole car is great, just cudve have thrown in the elctronics seats, ABS , the goodies, as available in some cars of the same class. The legroom in the rear is the only real shortcoming of a car worth 12lakhs. Not bad, but u wished you had a litle more. again, fuel economy is excellent for a car of this size and built plus has a powerful Turbo 1.9 litre diesel engine. Also you are recommended to put regular diesel, not the enhanced ones. Overall worth the money 100%
fun driving but little bit of curb in rear seats......
but great built quality and best mileage on highway...... sales after service is not tht much good but still have to deal with that . overall satisfied with the car but price is bit higher
