The Skoda Yeti was perhaps the first ever crossover vehicle to hit Indian shores. At the 2010 AutoExp is made headlines and grabbed so much attention. The Yeti is in fact classified as an SUV and it does come with all-wheel drive. There are two diesel variants available with different power outputs. The Yeti competes with the Ford Endeavor and the Renault Duster. In 2014, the Skoda yeti had undergone a significant facelift and now come with added features.
Design & Styling
The new Yeti still features its unique design but it draws inspiration from the new Skoda design language, which includes sharp lines and muscular yet compact body. It is not the conventional SUV as it sits lower to the ground and is not as high or wide as a full-size SUV. It has more of the dimensions of a full-size sedan, but it still has a SUV silhouette. The front section is typical Skoda with the large hood, and the front grille is also typical Skoda, but there is the addition of two round headlights next to the normal large headlights and this stands out. The new Yeti now comes with silver roof rails, chrome surround radiator grille with the new logo, a bi-colour roof, cornering fog lamps, and new bi-xenon headlamps with LEDs. The tail lamps have also been redesigned to look more advanced. There are some nice size tyres also on the Yeti and the car has a decent ground clearance. The rear end looks more like the rear section of a wagon. It’s still not the most attractive looking vehicle but it does have its own charm.

Interiors
The interiors of the Yeti have also undergone some changes but still follow the traditional Skoda design and ergonomics approach. The dashboard has been redesigned and instrument cluster is clean and easily readable and accessible and they now feature a wood design décor. The steering wheel is now a three-spoke and the gear knob can be reached easily and the seats are comfortable. However, there is still not enough space for rear seat passengers. Not even by a full-sized sedan terms. In this sense you begin to understand that the interiors of the Yeti are not that of an SUV but a small sedan. There is however lots of storage space and the cabin is also decently comfortable.
Engine & Transmission
The Yeti comes with a 2.0 litre TDI CR engine that has two different outputs. The regular 2WD variant gets 108bhp and 250Nm of torque and is mated to a 6-speed manual. We drove the 4WD variant that produces 135bhp and 320Nm of torque and is mated to a 6-speed manual transmission. this si the same specifications as the Laura and Superb, which means it has a very nice engine/transmissions setup.
Performance and Handling
The Yeti is surprisingly a beautiful and very fun car to drive. We drove the Yeti on the mountain roads and were shocked to see that the car handles so brilliantly and that the suspension setup was fantastic. The steering response is spot on and the car handles effortlessly at high speeds. The suspension is decently stiff and keeps the car stable at all times. The engine is really good and the manual transmission works very well, although there were some issues with the clutch as it seems to be a little too hard. Overall acceleration is really good and the car has got lots of power that make it perfect for the highway. We also went off-road a bit but we would recommend this car for hardcore of-roading as its ground clearance is too low and the tyres aren’t the best. Overall though the Yeti is a very fun car to drive and is also comfortable.
Fuel Efficiency
We got an average fuel economy of around 15kmpl, which is not too bad.
Features
The Yeti comes with power steering, power windows, automatic climate control and then it comes with the Skoda audio unit with a 6.5 inch touchcreen display and steering mounted controls as well as Bluetooth connectivity. There are also leather seats and a cooling box.
Safety
The Yeti also comes with good safety features such as airbags for all occupants, ABS with EBD as well as off-road ABS and EBD. Then there is also Hill decent control, Drive-off assistant, traction control and parking sensors.
Quality & Reliability
The Yeti is a very good and nicely built car. The engine setup with the transmission has been beautiful engineered and the overall car is built very well and has very decent materials. It is also very reliable and also comes with a good warranty and parts and servicing are not very expensive.
Value for Money
The Yeti offers great value for your money. It is the perfect crossover vehicle and has been priced very well, especially if you get the 2WD variant. It is a mix of both SUV and sedan and comes with good features and decent space. It’s a great deal.
Verdict
Overall the Yeti is the perfect car. It gives you the best of both worlds. You get the comfort of a mid-size sedan and you get the duty of a SUV. It may not be the best off-roader but it certainly is capable of a lot. It’s fun to drive and has enough space for a young urban family. However since the arrival of the Duster and now the EcoSport you have more options in this segment, but the best engine belongs to the Skoda.

excellent pickup, many safety features, new technologies used in it such as hill decent control, perfect mileage, reasonable price, low maintenance, stylish, good off roader, no body noise, good suspension, superb music player
The look of the Skoda Yeti is very unique and takes some getting used to. I bought a black Skoda Yeti ambiente and got delivery on Dec 12th. It looks very smart in black colour from the front and sides. The rear is slightly boxy , but very practical and actually gives a lot of space in the boot due to its straight rear. Also, with black colour the bumpers and the B-pillar blend in well with the theme (in other colours they stand out). The styling is very different from other SUVs/Sedans and the car is like Laura, but raised much higher and with 4x4 ability. Boot space is also decent and sufficient for most families - there is around 415 L below the parcel shelf and around 680 L, with the parcel shelf removed. Also, there is an option to reduce / increase the boot space by sliding the rear seats backwards/ forwards.
Comfort It is a compact SUV which will meet 99% of users requirements, even for off roading. It is especially good for the bad roads that we have in Gurgaon. The seating is very comfortable (leather seats all around) and good for long journeys. The view from the drivers seat is also good and also gives a good view of the end of the bonnet, and does not obstruct the view. The ride quality is also excellent and well tuned for bad Indian roads.
good looking suv model introduced in skoda is a warm welcome & good stylish performance car expected to be a good mileage car in suv segment car that imprees a lot of customer. price of the car is good compitale one.
