The Tata Nano first made waves across the motoring world when it was showcased in 2008 at the Delhi Auto Expo. Manufactured as the cheapest car, it had everyone wondering what it was capable of doing. Fitted with a tiny 600cc engine and enough space for a small Indian family, the Nano today is considered a low cost people carrier aimed specifically at families with low incomes, but offers a very safe and practical mobility solution.
Design & Styling
The Nano is based on a very practical design, which means it uses what it can. The design is nothing fancy but still contemporary with modern day styling. It has got very small tyres and a curve shaped body to make more space for the interiors. Surprisingly it has a great ground clearance of 180mm.

Interiors
The interiors are very basic with tight spaces. There is a very simple dash with a small steering wheel and an easy to read instrument cluster. It comes with the bare necessities and you can expect nothing more.
Engine & Transmission
The engine featured in the Tata Nano is the tiny 624cc petrol engine that gives a very good fuel economy with a power output of just 38bhp. It is well built but not very refined. The engine is mated to a very mechanical 4-speed gearbox.
Performance and Handling
The Nano surprisingly is a good performing car if you use it for the right reasons. It is not meant to entertain you on your quest for speed but it does move around well and quite frankly it can take you anywhere. We drove the Nano in all kinds of conditions and it just puts a smile on our face every time. It’s obviously not something you can toss around but the steering is complacent and the drive and ride quality is decent. It is the cheapest car in the world but it is also a proper car that can handle any kind of city or rural road.
Fuel Efficiency
Because it uses a tiny 2-cylinder engine and the car is very light you can get approximately 20kmpl which is decent for any car.
Features
There are no new age features available on any variants. The higher variants come with power steering, power windows and air conditioning.
Safety
There are no new age safety features on the Nano.
Quality & Reliability
The Nano is the cheapest car in the world so it is obviously made of the cheapest components which lack any kind of quality. The car still is decently built and is sturdy on the road. It is also very reliable as it is meant for rural areas and it also comes with a 4 year guarantee.
Value for Money
It has the best value for money out of any car in the world, quite simply because it is the cheapest and is also very practical.
Verdict
There is nothing to say about the Nano in terms of a purchasing decision. The target customers will be people who cannot afford a proper full size car or bike customers looking for an upgrade because of their families or the climate. The Nano is your best bet if you are on a very tight budget or if it is your first car which you can afford.

I am having a Fiat Linea as my family car. As a luxury sedan it is very good. But in the present heavy traffic, I decided to go for a small car. I took test drives on Maruti Alto, Hyundai Eon and Tata Nano. I found Nano more comfortable in city traffic. More over my younger brother is a fan of this cute car. Tata Nano is very spacious inside, good leg space, good head room and very good in mileage compared competition. As a car from the most trusted Tata House, I am very proud to use Nano.

I have purchased this car on 15 Nov 10, i found its worth to in comparison to cost, in terms of driving it is good, speed above 75-8- is not advisable through company is giving 105,i feel like car is going out of control after speed of 80.
Rear Engine gives feeling of driving auto rikshaw. this is major drawback , which result in giving cash of two lac and somebody tell you that your car is nothing but an auto.
Petrol should be manage from outside filing like another car.
