The Volkswagen Jetta is the best selling entry-level luxury sedan for the German car maker, globally. The car has been in production since 1979, and is now in its seventh generation. The Jetta is based on the same platform as the companies legendary Golf hatchback. In India the Jetta comes with 2 engine variants including an automatic transmission. The Jetta competes with the Chevrolet Cruze, Toyota Corolla, Skoda Laura, Renault Fluence, Hyundai Elantra, and the Maruti Suzuki Kizasahi.
The Jetta once again follows typical VW design language. The Jetta is decently big with 4.2 metres in length and 1.6 metres wide. To us the car seems a bit boring to looks at. There are no sharp lines and the car just doesn’t really catch your eye. It does have a decent on-road stance, but that is thanks to its big tyres and alloy wheels. There is no distinct character as the Jetta can hardly be mistaken from the Vento, and that is something most Indians wont like. In fact, I think the Vento looks better.
