Skoda Fabia User Reviews

With the experience of Tata Aria visit still fresh in my mind, I was in a dilemma when I was asked to visit the showroom to have a first hand experience of the new Fabia. The reason was simple-with the kind of regard I had for the old Fabia, I didn’t want to see a stripped down version and change the image I had in my mind of the first true luxury hatch in India. But, I was left with no choice and had to go to check her out. One first look at the car and I slightly felt comfortable. The car, though cheap by around 70k compared to the previous avatar, did not look as bad as I had expected. Instead, the fresh new face, with the wider peeled headlamps and bold new grille and the monstrous looking fog lamps, gave it a character, like some of its higher priced siblings. The flow lines from the sides of the bonnet gel with the upper grille so well, and looked inviting. The lower grille had also received fair amount of makeup, and with the low air dam at front, the car gave an impression of a toned up version of the old Fabia. The car length has also been increased by 8 mm and comes quite close to the line of control between a compact and an entry mid car. The height has also, gone up by 8mm, and the ground clearance by 12mm, which is…huge.

It has been quite some time since the launch of the new Micra and the hype surrounding it is slowly beginning to subside. Now it is time for the actual question. Was the car really worth the hype and is it truly a game changer for Nissan in India. Let’s find out. First, lets get into some statistics. Since the launch of Nissan Micra, Nissan India sales have grown by around 20 times over the same period last year. Full credit to the Micra for the outstanding feat. Nissan, with its small network of 19 dealers, managed to sell around 1200 Micras in September. A ratio of around 60 cars sold per dealer. Well done Nissan. But in a market dominated by Swifts and i20s, is the Micra good enough to carry Nisan on its shoulders? Read on.

Ford has launched its all new Figo hatchback based on the old Fiesta platform. In this review, we take the car out for a ride and try and find out if the ‘Smart and Smarter’ car is worth the hype surrounding it. What has Ford compromised in this car to bring it at a price so appealing to the masses in India? Does this little hatch take forward the legacy of its predecessors and establish itself as the best ride and handling hatch in India?

VW, in India, has remained an automaker for the elite class till 2010. But surely, they had different plans for the Indian market. Models like Jetta and Passat could not help them establish the brand among the middle class Indians, for whom the Swifts and i10s were obvious choices. They had to come up with a small car that offers extremely good value for money, not compromising a bit on the VW quality standards. The Polo.

The year was 1967. Hyundai, a 20 year old construction company had decided to establish an automobile assembly plant in Seoul, for assembling the ‘Cortina’ model of Ford, going against the claims of the Korean Industry Ministry that importing a car would be cheaper than assembling it. But Hyundai’s Chung Ju-Yung had different plans. Hence ‘Hyundai Motor Company’ was born, just as a unit for assembling Ford cars. But just in a span of seven years, Hyundai stunned the critics and the first Korean manufactured car, the Pony, rolled out of the Hyundai stable. Three decades later, Hyundai has established itself as the most aggressive automobile manufacturer the world has seen, capturing every market by with its diverse product portfolio and aggressive marketing tactics. From nowhere, Hyundai has emerged as a serious competitor to almost all automakers around the globe, and with an unparalleled growth rate, went on to become the world’s fifth largest automobile manufacturer.

Tata , in the recent past, has generated huge fan following from all around, with each new product from the Tata stable, setting new benchmarks. The turnaround started with the Indica Vista, where customers got to see a Tata vehicle with a level of finesse that was till then not associated with Tata. Then came the Manza, which, with its refreshed looks and loads of space and features raised the bar even further. But the most notable improvement was in the quality, rising exponentially with every new car. So with Tata having launched an all new product, and with the kind of buzz surrounding it, owing to Tata’s online marketing initiatives, I had no problem in getting a few colleagues to accompany me to the dealership. So we set out, to explore the new kid on the block and to find what special Tata has to offer.

Toyota Etios User Reviews

Toyota till now had been a niche player in India with its all its passenger cars catering to the higher class of the society. That had been their strategy in India and every other country they were present till date. But they soon realized that in India, the fastest growing passenger car market, it was just not enough to have models catering to the elite, as every other car sold is either a hatch or an entry level sedan. To make their presence felt in India, they had to come down to the mass market, making cars for the common man in India. It was something they had never done before, not only in India, but anywhere else.
